Climate change has put the world in a state of perpetual emergency and threatens human survival. The solution demands an urgent transition toward a renewable energy future that is economically advantageous, environmentally responsible, technologically feasible, socially acceptable, and politically secure and peaceable. The good news is, the world is undergoing such a transition. Bangladesh is a victim of climate change but is also richly endowed with renewable energy resources. Several scientific, economic and environmental analyses confirm this revolutionary potential. The book proposes Bangladesh must think holistically, put a moratorium on further entrenchment into the dead-end fossil fuel-nuclear energy path, phase out all fossil fuel and nuclear power projects, and expedite the transition by tapping into Bangladesh’s practically “untapped energy mine” of renewable energy. Bangladesh could set an example for the world. Comprehensive and readable, The Renewable Energy Transition is an educational and practical book that will inspire people to action.
